Aha Val I am back from Barbados and spotted the bell event online ages
ago...glad the fishes made it safely to you. Do I remember correctly that

Big Ben struck 40 times at 08.12 for the start of the Olympics and everyone across the land was invited to ring bells too - performance art by Martin Creed. Great fun. And be warned, there might be a medal-wearing chicken or two. It is all very exciting in London at the moment.

Please don't go all London Olympics on us for the next 2 weeks: I've had enough of the hype already, and am seriously thinking of holding my own closing ceremony (in the bar) tomorrow night. You are all invited, of course -- birds, geese, pigeons, fowes, terriers, etc.
