I love the randomness too. When I create the "clone" side, there are times when you think "oh no this is not quite perfect", but when you stick the sides together it's those imperfections that make the piece special

I've done something similar with a rubber stamp.  If partially inked or impressed after inking, the incomplete image (Geo. Washington in my case) is fun to fill in with drawing pens.  Each one is different before drawing and I embrace this randomness that makes each one "new".
