I notice that Morice has an address in Italy. Is the postmaster aware of this project--is there anyone on the island that is taking responsibility for the project? Or are the entries heading into a black hole??
Great image Carmen! And, yes Carmela, I use markers - but permanent markers. They ink isn't usually affected by water, but does bleed when other solvents are applied.
Carolyn, thanks for inquiring about the exhibit. So sad to hear that their building was damaged in stormy weather. When did you send your mail art? I sent mine in the later part of May and my name is not on the list.
When I discovered this group I fell in love immediately. Being located "somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean", such an unusual address, moved me. I sent an email to the post office last Friday. This is the answer: "Dear Patricio Yes I know about this group. I was asked by Morice Marcuse before this group was created. We have already received lots of mail art. However we were unable to make the display last year as our Post Office & Tourism Centre was severely damaged by a storm. We just managed to get back into the Centre before Christmas and is hoping to have the mail art displayed this year.

The link to the facebook page added by The Celestial Scribe back in his comment from back in January takes me to a page that says it is no longer available. I found another one that includes a post with a thank you message for the mail art they've received. Here's the link: http:/https://www.facebook.com/463229820439821/photos/a.90060055336...
To send mail art to Tristan da Cunha is certainly a must. To get there has no name.
"Firstly, no one disembarks in the only city (Edinburgh of the Seven Seas) without permission from the local government, which can be achieved by following in the footsteps of the island's official website. They come and go with documents, information and payments that can make the wait last a year. Then, you need to get a seat on the boats that make the round trip to and from there. The accounts are from Cape Town and a very low offer: 10 per year, with only 12 free seats for passengers in 90% of them.
Finally, the traveler still needs to hope that São Pedro is in a good mood, because no ship sets sail in bad weather - neither on the way out nor on the way back" Oh Lord!!!!!
As a new member to this group, and about to embark on a new piece to send off to this isolated island, I have a question? Since the island is small, and has a small population, what will they do with the influx of wonderful mail? Is there a designated Archivist? Do they even know that these pieces are arriving. Are you the Liaison, Mikel? Now back to work on a new piece.

Oh my dear Patricio, thank you for sharing this with us. And thank you for writing directly to ask the question. And don’t you love the post mistress’ name? Iris! Como el arco.

What an interesting history of the island. I'm excited about sending mail art there. Can I assume your name should be included in the address?

Likewise for my mailing. Think I'll send another one to see if it or both eventually arrive. The building's certainly not a very nice site. :(
