The theme is Bananas & Anna Banana. Many of our members are « bananas » themselves, others are »fruity », a few are « nutty », and one is completely « ape ».
If you are none of these, don’t worry we can help you with specially designed projects and exams for your progress to the banana status you deserve.
We will also explore the many works of Anna Banana as we give appreciation for involvement in Mail Art & "Art".
PS I you are « crackers » or « loony », this group may not be for you.
Also: see link and fill in the form and return it to Anna Banana!
According to his wife, Dean is alive and well, and enjoying life doing something very secretive outside Europe. It involves neither bananas nor Mail Art. He may be temporarily returning to Paris in September.
Banana and peanut butter sandwiches. YOu all have discovered them, yes? (Or maybe invented them. Over and over! ha :--)
Angie, have you another little dog in addition to Snooky? Inquiring minds . . .
During major reorganization last week, this totally black and contorted banana peel turned up. It was probably put in that strange spot to please Dean Bananas back when he started the group. (I'm not checking dates.) I'm wondering whether to send it to Dean.
Anybody interested in the February 21 World Banana Day & the February 23 International Banana Bread Day held in Candace, Canada? We can send out banana mail art pieces. If interested, I'll compile a list. Write me! We did it last year and it was fun to receive lots of banana mailart in the mail.
Hello everybody!! I'm setting up the World Banana Day (February 21) & the International Banana Bread Day (February 23) Mail Art Exchange. Participants will send out banana themed mailart or banana bread recipes and try to have your mailart arrive on neither February 21st or the 23rd to other participants. Please let me know if you're interested, by writing me or replying here. I am compiling the Banana List now.
Here's a banana mail art piece I made last year:
Don't forget to eat your bananas, it's good for you!
One out of a serie of Banana Mail Art. I'm afraid they'll be too late to arrive for Banana Day (21st Febr), but due to a special treatment these mail art bananas keep fresh even after expiration date (unless the mail companies eat them).
In Dutch, the words 'banana' (banaan) and 'moon' (maan) rhyme. And while taking a banana in my hand and watching this (now late, unfortunate) fruit, this image came into mind. Alas the English translation isn't as nice as the Ducth phrase. Something like 'the banoon is shining'. But I hope the receiver will like it anyway. Sent to Italy.
A warm welcome to Mathom-House and a big thank you to him, MomKat & Rebecca for their Banana Mailart I have already received, but waiting to open and blog on the 21th.
Housed in this cover (2" tall 1.5 wide) (5.08 x 3.81cm) is a wee boekie, accordion folded and chuck full of thoughts, a poem, history and wonderful little paintings and collages all in the spirit of, yes, the banana.
Exciting envelope from Greece, too! I leave it closed until Friday 21st, because I think it might be banana mail art (even though it says 'Just Greek Mail Art'!?)!?
I love date stamps in other alphabets, so love to see this 21 ΦEB 2014 - thank you very much, Katerina, ευχαριστώ ! :-)
My banana mail art is on its way to you now, Jen, but will be too late for the 21st!.. One advantage of this delay is that I could add a stamp print to it, of the eraser stamp I carved today :-)
(part of the envelop, the content should be a surprise :-) )
The Anna Banana was at Ex Postal Facto in San Francisco. I've been seeing photos of her posted with all of the amazing Mail Artists, whose names are well known. Any of you banana huggers attended? I couldn't, dang!
