Rubber stamping, also called stamping is a technique very often used in Mail-Art. Share your works, techniques and thoughts here. Also sometimes news from the largest Rubberstamp Archive that started in 1983.
Also, I have used the stamp pads from an office supply store and they work well and are permanent ink. You can really print with any paint - house paint will also work if you use it fast enough. ;)
The stamp was part of the project "Censor something for me". I would send out blue stuickers and ask people to censor something fior me. I sent iut about 20,000 stickers. You probably will find traces of that in many archives. Stll have one role of 1,000 stickers in my collection.
Wonderful envelope. The thing I like about hand carved stamps is the woodcut or homemade look. I have vast collection of rubber stamping which I'm in the process of remounting on to EZmount foam. Those wood block really hurt my hand and is nightmare trying to get clear impression on larger stamps.
I've made this today, the left is my take on IUOMA logo and the other is about Airmail. I needed a something to add on my postings. There's more of my carved eraser at this flickr set.
Daler Rowney have block print acrylic paints. I did lino printing a long time ago the tutor mixed a medium with ordinary acrylic paint. Can't remember the name thought and trying to find it online.
For carved eraser stamps I discovered pigment and permanent inks such as Stazon and Archival give more clear impression. Best of ink pad is really inky.
Hi Connie, I carve my own and get some made by Vista Print online. I'd like to know if there are some to buy here too. There's a nice one with an envelope that becomes two hands I think. Anyone know?
This is a really weird mix of tastes, Ruud. I think the seller probably got lots of boxes of stuff at an auction, with many different collections of stamps, and didn't have any use for them. The postage was 3X what I paid for the stamps!!
Ahh, never mind...I thought maybe Arac would've organised a surprise catch up for the 3 of us in NY. We spent an entire DAY buying rubber stamps together in 2 shops!! We spent hundreds!!! I ran out of cash and she had to cover me!!

on Linocut you need special ink or even paint. Waterbased ink doesn't stick enough.

Oh, Sticker Dude is no longer making the IUOMA rubber stamp? :-(
I really like it...it is "classic". 'Will have to take good care of it.
Of course all the ones designed by Rudd are fabulous, too,

So can we use this image to make rubber stamps too? Or will I have to go back to Thess and steal Katerina's stamp?

Yes, with the right credits (the drawing is made for the IUOMA by Thomas Kerr, a cartoonist in USA)
