A couple of old stamps from my archive here. The first is Recycled and a collage originally I had made into stamp by a professional company.
The second i made myself using an old eraser and a scalpel. Recycling the Century was an exhibition I was involved in in Wales.

Just a small section of the rubber stamps in my archive.

  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Exhibit in NYC? Wish dates, place, times, Ruud, and will notify friends in Long Island and near-by to not miss it! How will you transport the archives...or will it be these paper-print-out archives? Sounds like a great idea for an exhibit, all the best of success!
Good collection, Michael...I have only humble beginnings with erase-rubber-stamps, so far :-) who knows where it will lead me!
  • Michael Leigh

Thanks Katerina - I started out with humble beginnings too back in 1980 when I first found out about mail art and joined in. Found my first rubber stamps soon after - inspired by work of Michael Scott, Lon Speigelman, Creative Thing, Robin Crozier etc. Its taken me 30 years to accumulate all the ones I have. I am a natural hoarder. I can't possibly use them all! many are hand carved by me and mail art friends.

    One Stamp Wonder

  • Carla Cryptic

BTW, One Stamp Wonder is something done through the Carving Consortium and the EraserCuts Groups - you sign up for 4 months and each month you use the same stamp you have carved in a different way. The ones I posted here earlier are from a long time ago but I've done it more recently, just don't have time to scan them! I thought I'd mention them to all of you in case anyone decides it's worth trying. It's good to stimulate your own creative juices as it keeps you from thinking your stamps have only one 'life'.

    very nice Susanna!!
  • Tomoe N

    Susanna,
    I like your stamp.
I don't know about the size, but I used to do linoleum print about 5 by 7 in" size. It looks like as yours.
I just come to realized that since stamp is originated the way from woodblock print, small sized print can be both art work on paper, and stamp that goes with a letter or where ever. Inspiring....

    Hi Susanna,
Thank you for recommend product, and your curving demo looks nice and helpful.

When I went to San Francisco last summer, I bought a bunch of small sized linoleum, 6 by 8, and postcard size. And many of 4 by 6 printing block that you have from Speedball brand. I made my name stamp with it.

In Japan, eraser stamp is popular now, and there are many stamp artists publish books. And you can buy rubber eraser block by itself and set with other materials special for making stamps at craft stores and websites.
Sorry the site is Japanese, but I will try to post the pics from there.
