Even though the address is correct and there is already an other bar code, PostNL often likes to add an other bar code. Over the stamps, this time...

I was very relieved when I found out that the code was easily removable!

This just arrived from Jean-Charles Boilevin,  possibly the first mail I've received marked 'A TAXER' (the international version of 'postage due') because he hasn't used any valid stamps. Or is it part of the design? Luckily I didn't have to pay to receive it.

Example of a PostNL addition I don't forget:

If it is not the machine, might the hole have been caused by someone who tried to put a thin hot skewer into it, just to see if there was any smahsmallow left?!?

True, FinnBadger, it is a label/sticker with a code, added by PostNL. To me these are so common that I forget that it is a postal addition, too. Unless they stick over the stamps...

Thanks for showing the postal additions and openings, Heleen. I have sent a couple of these 'envelopes' before, and they weren't damaged by the machines.

FinnBadger sent a great envelop. A recycled resealable bag! Which must have confused the cancellation machine, because they put a postmark on the envelope and even some ink on the back side, while... the stamps kept uncancelled! To my surprise, and I guess you share my amazement when you see where the ink goes :-) 

And USPS wouldn't be USPS if they would have forgotten to make some tear (in postcards there usually are some milimeters torn off on the central right side of cards), which in this case means a hole:

(or would they intentionally have changed the text into Sackapade? :-)  )
