I was first aware of Blaster Al when he contacted me around 1982/3 when he was doing his White Worm Review. He got my address from Dave Zack I think- he'd seen a collage I'd made of a worm wriggling under a sheet of paper and asked if he could use it in a forthcoming issue. What struck me first really was his sense of humour and slightly crazy ambience his letters had which appealed to me straight away. Here's somebody I could happily send stuff to I thought. So began a long correspondence up until he moved from Texas and vanished for a while . It was always a treat to get his "tacky little pamphlets " and off-the-wall collages and stories in the mail.  I will try and find a few out from my slush pile to show you here.

pardon off-topic - page from Thierry Tillier's "Anatole Au Cafe De L' Aube" (circa 1970s?) - see Sphinx 7/8 - Maciunas, Ginsberg, Ono, Mac Low. Would sure like to have Sphinx 7/8.

“Blaster” Al Ackerman died on Sunday. He was a general in Baltimore’s literary avant garde—though
it occurs to me that assigning him a rank is way too straightforward for Blaster’s interstellar brilliance.
