Here in the Britain we pay minimum £ 2.20  ( 2.83 US dollars - 2.54 Euros) for a letter up to 100 grams and the same even for a naked postcard. It goes up every year since our Government sold the Royal Mail. It was a service, now it is a business.

I do not know how long people will be able to afford it.

Here in France we pay a minimum of 1.80 euros for a letter up to 20 grams and 3.70 euros up to 100 grs to the worl. It also increases every year. The post office is semi-privatized and the distribution service is seriously deteriorating.

I don’t know how long people will be able to afford that, me too. I’ve reduced the number of shipments myself. But I always like to buy beautiful stamps made by artists-engravers whose i want to value the work.
The most laughable is that at the moment in France the post office advertises to encourage people to send during the holidays "real" postcards (not photos with their phone)...

Maybe we all can - like Coco Muchmore - provide lessons in Mail Art at schools. So that a new generation put more life into sending en receiving snailmail.

By the way I always check the stamps on incoming mail and save the stamps that aren't stamped and can be re-used.
