Some Mail-Artists have been doing Mail-Art for a longer time and have saved all they get in, documented what they sent out, collected books, magazines and documentations, and before they knew it were the owner of a Mail Art Archive. Tell us more...

There is a small group for Bern Porter on IUOMA:

I believe he was one of the first publishers of Henry Miller, as well.

That's closer to the reality of the situation, I'm sure.

I was surprised when I read in the Ellingham/Killian Spicer biography that Bern Porter showed up as a publisher (no less) in association with Blaser/Spicer/Duncan in the 1940s.

I realize it's a small piece of BP's vast achievements.

I think Porter was in Sausalito. So maybe the Sausalito Renaissance.

Yea Berkeley!

Woops, I meant Berkeley Renaissance. What most people think of today as the SF Renaissance was actually the Berkeley Renaissance.

Velocity was a great zine. I think it was the brainchild (and workhorse) of a woman named Christine Herman in St. Louis. However, this particular issue says edited by Bob Grumman who is a vispo guy still active in Florida.

Glad you like, SM. I'll try to scan some more once in a while.

Probably a lot of people don't know Bern Porter was very active in the San Francisco Renaissance, publishing books by Patchen, Duncan, etc.

DVS - I love the Bern Porter piece. Thanks.

Biggy G - Great collection! Looks like you've been at this awhile.
