Literature and Art

For people who read and enjoy good literature--literary classics or literary contemporary and like to make art about it.  Using literature as inspiration for our art.  Also for people interested in writing letters about literature.  This is also a meeting place for The New Arzamas Literary Circle, which is dedicated to writing creative letters on literary topics.

LITERATURE and ART

TOP:

Handmade Ezra Pound (Ezruckus Poundamonium) paper doll for a series of skits in which E.P is the main star. --Theresa Williams

MIDDLE:

Automatic writing by Nancy Bell Scott.

BOTTOM:

One of a set of cards made while contemplating the poet Theodore Roethke.  On November 12, Roethke suffered the first of what was to be many mental episodes.  It happened in the cold Michigan woods, and he described the experience as having a "secret" revealed to him, which he said was the secret of "Nijinsky."  Nijinsky was a famous ballet dancer who was institutionalized for schizophrenia.  With your permission, I'd like to post your artwork at my blog:  The Letter Project.   I'm also looking for letters about literature and creativity.  All works from the blog have gone through the postal system.

Theresa, the others haven't arrived yet? Our postman drives me crazy sometimes, so I wonder.

Your mind is drawn to a very wide range of, what to say, facets of the universe, isn't it?  It always impresses me how thoughtful you are and how delighted you are with the things that draw you while at the same time letting them in in a serious way. You have an outlook that seems unjaded, despite what trials you hint at sometimes. That is quite a feat, and my hat would be off to you if I were wearing one.

Both the book cover (really nice one) and the note from your friend are appealing.  Softcover as a p.c., I never thought of it either.  You'd think I would, since I'm sending hardcovers all over the place, and it ain't simple.  Speaking of which, you'll be getting something next week, Theresa, that is certain to appeal to you and even be fit for this Lit and Art group with no ambivalence attached. :--)

oddly, as you can see in the picture of the minotaur postcards, roberto has been included in both of my minotaur mailings in quite a blatant way. ;-D
