Is there an age restriction for participating in IUOMA? My 7-year-old grandson is fascinated by the Add & Passes, collaborative books, etc. that I get and always asks if he can work on them. I thought it might be fun and educational for him to send and receive mail art, or collaborate on a book, with other children. An adult would have to supervise with the mailing aspect, of course.

I'm going to ask Ruud the rules for having childrens events on IUOMA, whether or not we can host them here or do they need to be taken elsewhere.
That's a good idea Terry. İ think will be quite ok as long as we, the parents/grandparents are managing the group on İuoma. The group will be just to connect with oher people who has kids who want to make mailart, to exchange adresses and start up some events. Actually the exciting part is out of İuoma, in the mail box. ;)
I agree, Dorina...the children will be so thrilled to get mail! As an adult it's fun so I can't imagine how it feels to them. :-)
Dorina, please see my message of 1/15/16. Thank you! :-)
Oh darn, not seeing any kids' art. Hope to soon! Maybe I'll do my version of kids' art since I don't have a kid!
Sure, Jan, why not?! The children would love it, I'm sure! :)
I haven't heard anything back from Ruud yet and I'm anxious to get this show on the road. I think Dorina is right that, as long as the adults are managing the group, it should be okay. After all, Monenhor enVide neFelibata is doing children's events too. :-) But if we get started then find out it's not okay, we can always move it elsewhere. For those of you who are interested, how do you want to do this? Should I set up an event or would one of you like to do it? I don't mind either way. I just want to get started. :-) What kinds of swaps/events do you have in mind? Hopefully there will be many other children who sign up once we get started. Monsenhor enVide neFelibata, Rachel Carter, Dorina Harangus, and Jan Hodgman...please let me know what you think. Thank you!
Terry, you guys should be OK....I have included kids mail art in my art envelopes of some of the members and I think we have...still have...a participation going on called Smiles...those cards are going to children of other contries...I think it is a wonderful idea...have fun!
Thank you, Amy, for the words of support. I appreciate it. :-)
I'm up for whatever comes from the group, and look forward to great inspiration from kids! As I said, I don't have kids around me (at least on a regular basis) to "draw on" for art, but I really do think I'd enjoy entering my own kidly muse self and respond from that place for an exchange. Curious to see what comes of this!
I've often thought of trying to create art from the latent child in me but other than drawing or writing with my left hand, I haven't pursued it. I think it would be interesting to create art from a child's perspective. Many times I sit with my grandson's as they draw and without any thought, they produce beautiful and creative pieces. They just "do". I would do better to not think so much.
Thank you for your reply and for the information on your events. I appreciate it very much. However, I believe what we are looking for here is for events where children do swaps among themselves. My grandsons did send submissions to your reRabisco event. We can't wait to see what you send back! :-) Thanks again.
