Salut Helene! Yes, that is the old woman's little doll. I neglected to put the title of the poem ("Doll Baby").  This woman apparently had no children but her apartment was full of dolls, whose clothes she washed and hung out to dry (the inspiration for the little poem).

What I really like, on this view of the back of the card with Benjamin Peret verses, is that someone at the post office carefully canceled the century-old stamps that I had stuck on as decoration or as a decoy.

Nicolas de la Casinière loves the poetry of Benjamin Peret, a French writer and surrealist poet, and shares one of this author’s texts.
