Mr Edward Davis

February 10, 1930 — January 31, 2016

Edward Davis Jr. Passed away peacefully on January 31, 2016 at the age of 85 . He was married for 64 years to his beloved wife Wilda (Bazinet) Davis. Born on 2/10/1930, in Detroit, Michigan he was the son of the late Edward Davis Sr. and Agnes (Leary) Davis. He leaves behind a daughter Cynthia Nickerson of Tiverton, a son Edward J. Davis III and his wife Judith of Tiverton, He was the father of the late Sharon St. Hilaire, grandfather of Nicholas, Neil Davis and Joshua Davis. He was the brother of the late Gerald Davis. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a medic in Korea. He worked many years as a jazz drummer. Since 1957 he was the owner of Davis Press in Tiverton RI. He graduated from Rhode Island College in 1978, taught at the ACI in Cranston, and was a printing teacher for 20 years at Henry Lord Middle School in the Fall River. He was an avid stamp collector who published the magazine “Stamp Business” and wrote stamp articles for the Providence Journal and the Fall River Tribune. He was recognized as a leader in Philately by the New York Times. He was a 3rd order Franciscan. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 12:30pm in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State Street, Bristol, RI. Burial with Military Honors will follow on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11:00am in the Massachusetts National Cemetery for Veterans, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA 02532. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association, 72 Bank Street, Fall River, MA 02720.
