I can’t describe how excited I was when I got this wonderfully colorful hand made map envelope. It rattled and was puffy and so mysterious to the postmaster. It has a Roy Lichtenstein lemon fish art stamp, in addition to much real postage that really completed the look. Inside it was even more amazing than the outside! We got  a “Fish Island” post card and the sound was a giant round google eye! It has a tactile fish shaped map of the island. There is much glitter paper, with rhinestones, tissue paper puffs, and fish lips. The names of the island places are as follows: Bulge Eye Beach, North Lookout Light House, South Lookout Light House, Fliptail Forest, Scaley MT. Range, Fish Hook Bay. This is so FUN-ny. I asked for something Tactile and FUN, and this really is! Thanks so much to Melissa Wand for your FUNtastic Fish Island!

Next amazing interpretation of the Tactile Art prompt is a series of five colorful squares that have the letters A, M, B, E, R, done in Churro wool from the American Southwest. The orange, red yellow, pink and blue striped background is made with India ink. It is done in the style of Paul Klee, and made by Friend to the Blind, Arielle. Thanks so much!

M. Mouser’s return to Crackerjack Kid.

Thank you to everyone who is sending me such cool returns!

I wish to first thank Crackerjack Kid for his wonderful classic Mail Art that will thrill another generation of kiddos here! His epic Queens tax is as amazing as we could imagine, with 14 pairs of earrings, 2 pendants, gold watch, some funny little dodads, a mini wingtip shoe, a tiny music box, a calculator to add it up, and his famous token. We Brailled a return and receipt. Thanks again Chuck

I loved the Dr Suess One Fish page with Braille that you sent! My daughter has a friend whose 4-year-old named Cal is just learning to use his Braille machine, so I sent it along to him, with a FLUXFISH with a glitter outline that he should be able to make out, too! --XO Coco

This beautiful little picture has made by Coco with a geometric pattern that reminds me of a bike gear or cog set. It is colorfully colored in bright gel pens that makes is tactile to touch. It has a lovely note on the back that says “I TOOK MY GLASSES OFF TO DRAW THIS.❤️ COCO” that is such a creative idea! Also includes was a post card that is super tactile with two felt like rectangles, one gold,  the other mauve, that became more touchy with the folds to fit it in to the envelope. Thanks so much Coco!

So….this one is from Cracker Jack Kid, and I am not sure what exactly they are but they are quite tactile. One is a rectangle 1.5x2.5 inch flat rubber with little houses on it and in the center is a circle with the words “The Vermont Country Store” and a building. The other is a triangle of some strange paper like material that has been perforated three vertices lines and one across the bottom. Very cool and tactile, thanks Chuck!

This one from Portland Oregon had a longer note that explains exactly what is inside the envelope. “Dear Friend, Thank-you for the kind note and for thinking of me. Inside this post you will find lettuce seeds and two Meowjuana sticks that my feline palls, Lenora and Jane, do not prefer. I find them delightful to touch. With love Abbie” Thanks so much you three!

We got more tiny envelopes in the Post!

This is a wonderful tactile object that is quite flat and discrete. It also came with a nice note, “Dear M. Mouser, I used to be into origami a long time ago. The only thing I ember how to make is a pig. Oink Oink!” The little white pig is perfect, thanks  Allen!

Here is a picture of the “Free Matter For The Blind” tactile postal art that Cracker Jack sent. It is so amazing when it is taken out of the bag, you can see a painted wooden fish swimming in a sea foam net like background. He laminated a bunch of things and added foaming glue to make this mini masterpiece. It totally impressed the counter worker with his cleverness!

So my Post office isn’t used to getting Mail Art, especially from an Ol’ Timer like the Cracker Jack Kid. They were very confused by the package in the “We sincerely regret the damage to your mail…” bag. They thought that it must have been set in fire or something bad, but couldn’t find any explanation or stickers to figure it out. You Got’um, Chuck.

but in all fairness two post boxes, including the one outside the P.O. Have been set on FIRE by students this school year, resulting in a sign that said “sorry about your letters, they were all destroyed by fire.” So they were happy to know that this is ART and supposed to be that way!

thanks so much for playing FUN games, Cracker Jack Kid!
