Coco Muchmore sends Fiber Mailart and Much More

Coco is definitely flexing her mailart brawn! I received this amazing Fiber Mailart piece that is museum-worthy:

It appears to be all natural fibers...cotton twine creating a "weft" on cardboard, and then spun fibers woven into this miniature wall hanging. It's topped-off with a blue feather to compliment the spun and woven fibers. It's delightful and undoubtedly much concentration and skill has gone into the piece.  Below is a closer-up detail:

On the reverse side is a pasted artist statement:

Well said.

But that's not all!  Take another look at that top photo and witness the hand-painted large envelope in which she sent the piece. It's a masterpiece of its own! Made out of heavy grocery-bag brown paper, it features more greens and blues in a seaside moonlit landscape.

And an ATC of also inspirational momentum, words of wisdom for our times:

I love the handwriting on the painted background. I am realizing more and more how rare handwriting is becoming, and appreciate writing's etymology as magical and connected to storytelling. Words are powerful.

Coco seems to be going through an evergreen and blue-phase...and I LOVE those colors together. They remind me of deeply shadowed nights and forest glens and evergreen foliage and forested things that I am enamoured of. This is a "cozy" treat that I'll admire for a long time.  I've recently been knitting up a storm making holiday gifts, and as a fiber artist myself, I appreciate the skill that went into this creation.  It's been awhile since I sent some of my "knit postcards" through the mail...but maybe I'll have to assess whether to renew that category of mailart... Hmmm...
