Comment by De Villo Sloan on July 1, 2011 at 1:12am: definitely the 80s - one recession blends into another after a while - my first experience seeing food distributed free to the general populace - sure it has happened before but it was one of those "it can't happen here moments" - can't remember who the people on the trucks were but there was publicity about that program. funny what a video of breaking bottles can conjure up. thnx again Strelnikov

They used to put a form of this stuff in the field rations back when I was in the service, actually not too bad with the government crackers.
