---Magnet Show Info Sheet---
Started June 2023
The Magnet Shows are solo and group art shows in random places. Each Magnet Show has five individual art pieces. These are smaller pieces with magnets that’ll stick to things.
Once the show is “up,” (stuck) images of the pieces, as well as the location of the show, will be posted on Jon Foster’s Mail Art Makings on Facebook, and across other online mail-art groups. A small sign will alert attendees to the show to take one of the pieces. None of these shows have a particular theme. You can create collages, small sculptures, or pieces made of fabric.
Want To Participate? There’s Two Ways
The work needs to be somewhat small. Shoot for postcard size or smaller, around four by six inches. Each work also needs to be affixed to a flat surface which means you’ll need to have a flat space on the back for magnets. Either you can put the magnets on, or I can do it for you. Adding the magnet, yourself, may mean more postage for you. When you send your work, make sure that you mention it’s for a Magnet Show. There’s no deadline for contributions. The project will end when interest wains.
This can either be a group show collected by Jon Foster and then mailed to the curator, or a solo show created solely by Jon Foster. Just get in touch and I’ll be happy to send you a show, which will contain the collected artworks and a sign telling visitors what they’re looking at. Solo shows will have less turnaround time.
When you receive the work, and then place it in a public place, take pictures of the work as well as a short video and send it to me. I will then post those images to my Facebook page and then move them around to other online mail art groups.
