Trashpo by Diane Keys (Part III of the D-Kit Series) (Elgin, Illinois, USA)

DK - 1.25.2015 - 1

Mail-art by IUOMA member Diane Keys (Elgin, Illinois, USA)

January 26, 2015 - I complete documentation of a D-Kit from Diane Keys in Elgin with the remaining Trashpo and DKult promotional materials that were stuffed in this epical mailing.

DK - 1.25.2015 - 2

I have noted along with others following the series the conceptual nature of many of the pieces.

DK - 1.25.2015 - 3

The work also has a strong anti-art quality and is very spontaneous.

DK - 1.25.2015 - 4

Classic (found) Trashpo (above).

DK - 1.25.2015 - 5

No DKult mailing of this nature would be complete without the stamps.

Many thanks to Diane Keys for opening the year with this FAB material. Here are links to the other entries:

The coloration between Dkult and the Subgenious is remarkable. Maybe the Karmic spitit of the original dadaist ,fluxus, and mail art pioneers and madcap beat/hipped influences just manifest into new forms like Dkult. Dkult's sense of humor ,art and intelligence,  keeps any other m.a. cabal on its toes and toxis running back to its secret bases behind "7-11's" worldwide selling beef-jerky and splenda! Bravo DVS!!!

Thanks Neil and Richard. I think one of the current questions is if DKult is a full blown religion or simply a more intense group dedicated to certain found materials and a process for turning them into art.

And to Neil in particular - it's hard not to see a connection between DKult and another mail-art phenom (originally): The Church of the Subgenius. That started in Texas, BTW. I do not believe anyone ever set out to invent another church w/DKult, but there are similarities.

Out of the blue today some guy, obviously using an alias, joined DK's Trashpo group on FB. He made it very apparent that he has ties to or actually is one of the 14 Secret Masters of the World, which was yet another mail-art kabal, if you will recall, involving Blaster Al, David Zack and others of that group and generation. I don't think anyone knows who they all were except the remaining members, and they'll never tell. But my point is that DKult fits naturally into this, and if DK is ascending to become some sort of post office box deity, well it wouldn't be the first time.

26.01.15 Dare De Villo S., ...I do very much enjoy Ms. Keys flair for combining addtional flowing commentary to the "readymade" world of scrap & refuse...as in her other postal cards:  "You are" ACCEPTED. ...."You are perfect" AS IS.... & here: ...LIVING YOU LIFE "So you don't have to". The mystical powers of DKULT  I suppose.... reading the hidden signs  & speaking for the inanimate & or the non-verbal world.  Praise Be. Richard Canard
