Agios Georgos , St. George, may be an adaptation of the image of Alexander the Great?

(Statue at seaside in Thessaloniki, Greece)

Aha! Saint George...Agios Georgos, of course! and yes we do call it a "plaque" or a

"commemorative stone" ( as "face brick" in the USA might refer to all the bricks on the

front of a building) Very nice postage stamp. Thanks for the link, Heleen :-)

Fraternity, not graternity of course :-)
And the kind of stone, 'gevelsteen' in Dutch, is a 'commemorative stone' or 'face brick', some dictionary learnt me. I don't know which is the correct word in English but I guess you know what I mean :-)
Are there such pictoral stones in houses' brick walls in Greece?

Great that it arrived safely!

I was wondering about the horse and the horserider, too, and thanks to your question I looked it up now.
It is from a plaque (brick/commemorative stone) in some wall, the original photo you can see here:

The name of the horse I couldn't find, but the horse rider is a famous one, Sint Joris aka Saint George the dragon fighter. In the city of Heusden there is a guild/graternity named 'Gilde van Sint Joris' = Saint George's Guild.
