The first card from Michelle (6) to Valentine Mark Herman and back! Merci Beaucoup!

Michelle was very happy with TWO cards, she loved your cats. It touched her and one day she will remember this action...and let's hope she will become a member of the mail-artists one day! For Everyone who signed up in this little project...may'be you don't have any idea how big the impact is on the kids...they are soooo happy if the card comes back, others are waiting without any patience...almost they get angry with me if the card doesn't return immediately...to all of you : All together you are making something incredible of this project and I can't say enough THANKS! This is just the beginning! Hugs to all of you!

No problem, Kathy. Please tell Zarah that she will get TWO cards from me -- her original one, with my addition to it, and a second one with a (not very good) drawing of my house on it. I'll post it this morning, so with a bit of luck it should be with Zarah early next week. Regards, Val

Hi Kathy - I returned the card that I received to your address the middle of last week so you should be getting it soon.

Dear Val, as I told the kids...they had to make something about their home/house and then another artist would add his/her living place onto the card. I talked about the returning of their card, so they are all waiting for exactly that card. Of course I understand your idea, ofcourse you would love to have it, to keep it...but if everybody will do this , the kids will find back another card and will not understand anything of what I told them. They love the idea that the card travels to somebody...that he/she will draw or make something on it and that it will return. Thats just magic for those little 6 year old kids. I hope you understand me. My head of the school is very happy with this project and he is also waiting for the results...zarah is his daughter...so if you can...please add something to her card...she left space for you and she will ask me about it on saturday :) Is it possible val? I would be pleased if you can do this for Zarah. Hear you!

Thanks Kathy! I can well understand how time consuming this is...but it must be FUN for all involved. Do you want me to add something to Zarah's card and send it back to her -- or can I keep it this time? I have made her a seperate card with my house drawn on it (she is a better artist than I am!), and will post it tomorrow. Regards, Val

Dear Val,
that's another good news! About returning cards from the kids...It's a huge organisation to uy the correct stamps, to see that every kid has the good adress of sender and receiver...if not, they will never arrive. I spended like 2/3 lessons to make the card and to finish them for posting. We have to do a lot of other things too this schoolyear so it depends more from the kid/parents if they want to send something back. They aren't yet real mail-artists, this was something to let them taste this world. I'm thinking of one card made by all the kids together...to thank everybody...but then rather by e-mail when all the cards returned. Don't worry...there wasn't any card travelling from Michelle, she came inside the room jumping all the time with her cards! You were soo good for her!!!
You too Val! Very soon want to send you a card too, we can go and return ofcourse ;) Regards Kathy

Dear Kathy, I'm glad Michelle liked it. I got an envelope from Zahra today, and in it was a special card she had made for me, and a lovely house on it. I'll send her a reply over the weekend. Was I supposed to get something from Michelle again, because, if so, I didn't. The post here is a disaster: not only is tomorrow the 7th (or is it 9th?) in a series of public sector worker strikes, but it's also the heftsvakantie, and I think the postman is on holiday. I received no mail at all for 4 days, and then a lot of mail (mostly bills, alas) today. BUT Zarah's envelope did arrive.
Keep up the good work!
Regards, Val
