The Art of Envelopes: inside and out from Marie in Japan, Mim, Dean Marks and Ruud!

From Cherry Blossom, Marie, in Japan, comes this envelope with a beautiful "woven" piece inside. BUT the envelope is also a work of art outside here, and when opened completely: inside, too!

The envelope is a beautiful container for a beautiful paper weave, poetically dancing... as only Marie can create such a delicate piece:

From Mim Golub Scalin in Virginia , comes another envelope which begged to be open completely.

Handmade of recycled material, also containing many wondrous items inside:

An old photo, "eye" stamps, punched circles, map fragments, fab papers...all begging to be made into mail art! Will do!

Large envelope from Dean Marks in Paris, bit bigger than A4, and full of "sculpture"!Amazing!

French elegance! And it contained Anna Banana Bingo cards...more about those over at Postal History Boutique where we are collecting banana stickers!

And of course...painted envelope from Ruud! Great colors, as always, and a new Fluxus word : GJOOP!

More of Ruud's envelopes at his blog:

Outgoing Mail-Art

I'm afraid it's Envypo given your day's catch. Having envelopes as a "form" you can use creatively is one of the things that makes mail-art distinct, for sure.

"Envelpo", DVS???

There are many who do the envelope as art, as great containers for more art, and my mail box today was filled with the best of them! 'Wish my postal clerks would allow me to "paint up"...I try but they frown when I bring them in. Solution: I do anyway, sometimes, and add my own stamps and put them in the neighborhood mail box...but then they may not always reach destination ;-(

Katerina, the work in this blog is so beautiful! I think you have invented the "genre" blog. A blog devoted to envelopes - for all of us envelope fans. Ruud Janssen at his absolute best in this one, IMHO.
