Sweet, Sweet Jam -- Blog Jam, that is...

Trying to catch-up and recognize some wonderful artists who've blessed my mailbox over the past couple weeks...

Sandra Pinon (France) send an amazing collage piece naked through the postal service:

Got my first trade with Vizma Bruns (Australia), and she was the sweetest sweety-pie to make it fiber-themed!  Notice the crocheted eyes and lips!  They are photos of fiber work that were integrated into the collage piece! This was also send naked through the poste:

Svenja Wahl (Germany) continues to tickle my funny bone with humourous nostalgic ephemera (also sent naked,... well with a leotard):

Pedro Bericat (Spain) send another facinating laminated "frozen" collage.  It's a mystery to me where he finds these jelly-like circlets and items to "freeze" in his artwork, but I really, REALLY LIKE THEM! (also sent naked):

Katerina Nikoltsou (Greece) continues to find inspiration--and delight my senses--in BLuE:

"A" is for Asemics; "B" id for Bowie; "C" is for Coupon; ...and "D" is for DELIGHTFUL.  From Angie (USA), a GREAT collage postcard:

Louise Kiner (Canada) knows how to make me cackle!  All she has to do is send me something from her Zombie Kitty Kawaii collection.  For this masterpiece of humor, she sent some "kat sick" that Zombie Kitty hacked-up onto the back of a postcard.  I think it was some mail art by Dean Marks that Zombie Kitty ate.  Which doesn't sound quite right... since Dean's art is anything but distasteful!  Anyway, it hit my gross-factor funny bone!!

There was also an AMAZING little zine included detailing Victorian-era weaponry for zombie defense--brillliant, BRILLIANT!  But it literally is much too small print and detailed graphics for my camera to do it justice.

Last [in this blog] but certainly not least, is a tape transfer piece by Jon Foster (USA, North Carolina). Jon is getting edgier and more abstract with his lastest series. The tape is more striated and there are more color shapes than images or words.  But it gives the piece more mystery--one can spend more time with it like one can with an abstract painting, finding and discovering inferences and impressions that blossom in our independent minds:

On the front, just to make sure I was paying attention, and to make sure that I still had a sense of humour, there is a depiction of one of Chagall's painting--two lovers on a horse, face-mushing each other.  And on top of the painting is stamped the word "NOSTRILS."  Nostrils is a rather funny word, it must be admitted...

Thanks one and all!

Oh  no, Svenja!  No, I couldn't even tell there was another part missing.  The yoga picture cardstock is so slick and glossy it doesn't even look like there was anything else glued to it.  i DO still think it's a funny mailing and ephemera piece as is.  As Cheryl points out, "leotard" -- not unlike "nostrils" --  is a rather funny word/image.

Sometimes with glossy stock I use a little sandpaper before gluing the spot to something else--gives the surface a little something to "grip" and bind to.

"Sweet," you got that right. And poor Svenja, but we don't know what's missing ... ? Very nice blog as always, Thom.

Oh no, Thom, is that how it arrived? The fun part on the Guido allo yoga is missing! Urgs, I used bad glue I suppose :-(( - glad the leotard lady makes sense too. I love Angie's card, the colors are beautiful!! Super pieces altogether!
