Val started a puzzle project a few weeks ago, and Suus in Mokum was also one of the choosen ones.  I agreed to string along as I has understood that it was a pretzel project.

Well it turned out that the puzzle project didn't have anything to do with pretzels or even beer.  But one wonderful thing is that I received this wonderful piece from Suus in Mokum.  It made the whole project worth it.

Latvians bake world's largest pretzel - Vizma Bruns named managing director.

Now wonder she will be gone for 3 months.

RIGA (BNS) – The pretzel baked in the Latvijas Keramika plant in the central Latvian town of Jelgava has been recognized as the world's largest pretzel and will be included in the Guinness Book of Records.

The pretzel was baked at the end of last year and measured 9.999 meters in length, the company's spokesperson Vizma Bruns said.

The gigantic pastry was baked for six hours. Because of its size, the pretzel did not fit as a whole even in a ceramic oven. Therefore it had to be pushed through the oven gradually and baked in stages.

The dough, comprises only natural and Latvian-made ingredients, weighed 125 kilograms.

The pretzel outmeasures the previous champion of pastry by 70 centimeters.

In order to qualify for entry in the Guinness Book of Records, the bakers had to work by the prescribed rules to film the entire process and send newspaper articles by the deadline. They have now received a reply confirming that the Latvian maxi-pretzel has made it into the Guinness Book.

The company will celebrate the success next week by baking a small model of the pretzel, Bruns said.

Viz will warm up when she arrives here...no need for a cardigan (nor a "jumper"...that thing you attach to the battery of your car from a friend's car?). In fact, Vizma will not need to wear (are Angie's kids readying this?)....

at the Greek beach :-)

Oh you guys, I'm crying from laughter!! And a bit of sadness...but YOU 3 are probably the most likely mail artists I'll meet, and Arac of course. Don't worry about the cardigan fundraiser, I'm wearing a tan bodystocking in the photo and will be warm enough.

Dean, could you please start a collection so that we can all buy Vizma a maxi-cardigan or maxi-jumper because her top half is going to get a bit cold when she comes out of the Latvian Pretzel Factory to go home?
