Stunning Trashpo debut by Gina Ulgen (Norwich, Norfolk, UK)

Gina - 6.16.2014 - 1

Mail-art by IUOMA member Gina Ulgen (Norwich, Norfolk, UK)

June 17, 2014 - Gina Ulgen is apparently a Trashpo contender. She not only sent me a very fine piece of Trashpo, Gina sent me an entire exhibition. I certainly admire this ingenious piece of mail-art. As you can see from her kind note in the top scan, she invited me to unveil it:

Gina - 6.16.2014 - 2

First, I unwrapped Gina Ulgen’s mail-art and took the liberty of creating a spontaneous scannerbed Trashpo composition (above) that is very cool. She has possibly made a breakthrough with self-generating Trashpo.

The suspense is mounting! The trashmasterpiece is draped in ominous black. I see shades of Indiana Rogers’ pioneering Trashparody in this work. Yet as the inventor of Trashpo  “Jesus Jim” Leftwich said: “Trashparody? That’s an impossibility.”

Gina Ulgen’s Trashpo sheds… indeed, it weeps tears of genius. The black shroud concealing the central work is yet another piece of utilitarian Trashpo. I am considering turning it into a DKult arm band. Shades of the great “Wrapper” Christo are present. But here is what you are really looking for:

Gina Ulgen has discerned Trashpo’s anti-art roots and expressed the position eloquently. Far from being a parodist, she is a purist! The “exhibition” arrived in this envelope, which I mistook for a missive from Rebecca Guyver and thus, perhaps, mishandled the opening:

And the reverse:

Many, many thanks to Gina Ulgen for this FAB work!

Dkult Fashion was a HUGE hit at NY Fashion Week last year.  The 'wardrobe malfunction' on the roadkill mankini s put it over the top.  I'm sure we DID bring you to IUOMA Gina--I'm just glad you didn't fight it. Others have and more extreme measures were needed.  They are all quite happy members now.

I'm still thinking the curtain (or shroud) is a prototype for a DKult armband.

Thank you Rebecca, I try to be as oriGinal as one possibly can these days.  I do feel there is much 'po' to yet learn and explore, this is new territory for me. Doesn't anyone else hang curtains over unseen works?

DVS, I'm not sure how Vinyl Val knew it was me, I left off my name and address!

It was a successful baking day making mail art for you both... and I didn't burn either!

DKult telepathy - I think this maybe what brought me to IUOMA! I look forward to more subliminal messages from the group.

Alas, no autoclave for decontaminating .. maybe I can include it at the car wash next time!

you read my mind Gina--I thought, Why don't you join the trashpo group?" then I looked and you had.  You are already communicating via DKult telepathy. It is what happens naturally when you start making trashpo.  Gina--don't worry, there are quite a few all out germaphone trashpoets that run their finds through an autoclave.  It doesn't make it any less legit.

fondled by postal workers? wow--such an image. I know if I was a postal worker, I would fondle any and all mail art that escaped the robots

Aha - I understand the Marie connection now.

Since I don't really like to get my hands too dirty (one of my oddities) any rubbish from me will probably always be clean and tidy!

Thank you for the great reviews today.

I admire the civility of DKULTUK. No crazed women pointing guns in my face. No monkey diapers with my initials emblazoned on them. This is real D-Klass. Thanks again, Gina.

This also appeared on the MinXus-Lynxus blog. Gina, when Empress Marie founded MinXus, it was a response against Trashpo. She despised it. M-L does post Trashpo these days, so there is absolutely no problem with that.
