Received: Mail-Art Dream Zine from Lindsay Stewart (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada)

Mail-art by IUOMA member Lindsay Stewart (Nova Scotia, Canada)

December 3, 2010 - Lindsay Stewart makes beautiful collages, IMHO. She placed a call at the IUOMA that said: "Who wants mail-art? Leave your address." So I gladly signed up. She sent me a piece she calls a zine. I'd call it a booklet or chapbook, although it's nice to think I have a zine (precursor to the blog). Each page is a letter of the alphabet. Lindsay selected words to correspond with the letters. Each word forms the basis of a dream interpretation. As you can see, this is more fun than Freud. Her collage work fills in the rest. I picked the opening picture because the map (on the left) shows the geographic region where I live. Here's the cover of Lindsay Stewart's mail-art zine:

This is just a totally enjoyable piece:

You can see some of her collage work here. And the envelope had a great address side with an IUOMA reference:

Thank you very much for this piece, Lindsay. I very much hope we can trade more collage work. Always looking for another Little Shiva, although there never could possibly be another Little Shiva, so maybe someone like Little Shiva, or something along those lines. Anyway, thanks again.

I genuinely can't wait to see what you send. I wait with baited breath.

But shh-I'm busy reading every single blogpost you've made thus far.

Lindsay, thank you so much for your kind words and especially for the dream zine - I love it. I was worried you wouldn't find the blog. So it's good to know you were here. Also thanks for being my friend. I'm sending you something soon, and I hope we continue to trade. Best wishes, DVS
