Received: Collage mailart from helen Amyes (Australia)

I was very pleased to receive these two pieces from Helen. She included a passage the novelist Henry James wrote in 1893. The quote was definitely "found" and just shows how things mysteriously align when you let them:

"We work in the dark -

We do what we can -

We give what we have.

Our doubt is our passion

And our passion

Our task

The rest is the

madness of art."

Wow. And I can't resist: Henry's brother was the psychologist William James who invented the terms "stream of consciousness" and "automatic writing." I think one of his students was a woman named Gertrude Stein. I'll be corrected if I'm wrong. And here's Helen:

Hi Helen, just to clear it up: the white tape was on the postcards in my mailbox. You know I'm doing stuff with blue masking tape. So I just left the white tape on, but I think it's better to remove so people can see the image. Don't worry about the comment. I think indeterminate references are all part of it.
