I received this Visual Poetry work from De Villo Thursday evening.  Several things about it strike me.  De Villo has always been a master of color and this piece illustrates that once again.  I'm guessing now  but it looks like Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, and that reddish rust color may be Burnt Sienna watered down.  All not important.  Underneath the paint is De Villo's trademark obsessive stamping of letters.  Ghostly beauty.  The paper surface is textured with tiny vertical ridges.  Rivers of color have filled them creating a  magical effect.  This piece is so beautiful, it has it all.  I need to frame it.  I gave it a title....Phoenix Rising.  Hope you don't mind De.  Thank you.

It's raining "Sloan"! Another amazing piece of mail art. I can only imagine the textural effect that Karen describes..."Feel the Art"...and that, unfortunately cannot be done on the internet. Fortunately, there is mail ART!
