The strike is now at the point where there are no international small mail stamps available in any of the post offices in my area including the main one! The strikers are being cleverly strategic in shutting off the supply of stamps to the post offices just when people are starting to send Christmas cards. There are really interesting stories behind the strike with allegations of rampant corruption and mismanagement. But I wish they would resolve it already. I am suffering from mail art withdrawal and now I can't even send mail!

French public and private sector workers are very good at these sort of strikes -- at the worst possible time for the rest of the country (just before Xmas, at the start of the school year, just before the summer holiday 'exodus', etc) -- placing pressure on their employers to give in, which they usually do.
