New Missive by Susan McAllister (Berkeley, California, USA)

Mail art by IUOMA member Susan McAllister (Berkeley, California, USA)

April 16, 2016 - I am thrilled to, at last, be able to share mail art sent by Susan McAllister in Berkeley. Has Susan’s fascinating exploration of red and black that has entranced us so thoroughly finally reached a conclusion? I would guess that is unlikely, but it has been suspended – however temporarily – with this compelling collage. This strikes me as being all about structure. The blending of text and image lead us into the vispo realm. Another interesting dimension of this mailing is the use of stamps:

Do critics complain that contemporary mail art is apolitical? I have read that somewhere, I believe. Susan McAllister’s mailing presents one exception with this add & pass:

I believe Susan McAllister is using more stamps these days:

Always a great pleasure to receive mail from Susan McAllister!
