NEARLY LOST IN THE POST...OR 62 YEARS LATER AN EMPTY ENVELOPE ARRIVES

The following article appeared in the UK press last weekend: I know what was in it -- MAIL ART!

Letter arrives 62 years late, and empty”

A letter posted in Germany in 1951 has taken 62 years to reach Britain.

The half-open envelope was addressed to 'James Dunnill' at Missenden Abbey, Bucks, who was a warden at the abbey when it was used as an adult learning college.

The return address to Germany is a teacher training colleege which is now owned by the University of Flensburg.

An abbey spoksman said: 'No-one seems to know how it has suddently appeared.'

Staff want to trace relations of Mr Dunnill and the sender to find out what was meant to be inside the envelope.”

Ask 'anybody'. She will know. She knows everything.

No one seems to have any idea what happened to it in 1951 Erni.

Or where it spent the next 62 years;

Or why it was discoverd.

Or why it was eventially delivered.

I don't think WW11 and anti-German feeling had anything to do with it.

The British mail system was very efficient in those days -- much more so than it is now, in fact.

Of course the whole thing could be a joke played by someone.

I have some British letters dating back to 1760, and I suppose I could deliver those, and then the newspaper headline would be....

Letter arrives 253 years late”
