My Triple Turn from Marie Wintzer - Japan

We had been in despair Marie and I about lost Mail Art.  I know its part of the process, but ALL THAT WORK – just lost in the Ether – it doesn’t seem fair somehow.  But yesterday was different. Yesterday was My Triple Turn.

First off – a shoe polish box Marie found at an antiquarian in Prague. A shoe polish box that went from Prague, to France, to Japan and is now in  South Africa. Imagine that. I don’t know which artistic aesthetic, other than Marie’s  would have picked this up.   Its quite simply transformed beauty.

And the scroll?  Scrolls are historic, the unraveling of narrative in unfolding format.  Somehow, no other book form would have been right in this container.  A stitched scroll with money, and confetti and paint flakes. A story all of its own. Marie thought that I could use it for Groots boots. But I'll leave that story to another narrator :-)

This triptych came with a note that said the background textures are by Les Brumes – with her chuffed permission :-) - She is a FAB French Canadian artist, to be found on Flicker.  Using other artists work - WITH their permission AND acknowledging them  - I LOVE it!!! That's the true nature of collaboration. Two voices in one space. Duets can compliment and create harmonies unattainable by a soloist.  KNot entangled again.  That's complex that. Text in Knots? People in Knots, Ether in Knots? We Know That Knot.

The Ether pages? I'm afraid you'll just have to wait. They deserve a write up all of their own.  Marie - ok - I'm the other CHUFFED :-) XXX

Katerina!! Yes, there is some ether for you, sent last Friday. Don't tell me the postman had trouble with my envelope "again"! It's a very normal looking envelope?

"etheralness" are in your photos, Cheryl! Wow...what a light/shadow dance! Beautiful, Marie...you are on-a-roll! Would that something Marie-etheralness could roll towards Greece? (But not in strange shoe polish thang...postman no not what to do with it ;-( sigh!) He just had trouble with a "MomCat" delivery ;-)

Yip, I have to say, I'm a lucky one :-).  All Marie treasures are currently being 'housed' - I'll show you one of these days.  The fragility of the work? Its hard to describe. One always feels there is a need to STICK DOWN - but with Marie's - if it IS stuck down, it doesn't work. The etherealness? Its an integral part of her vision.

Great blog, Cheryl, and really wonderful works, Marie -- several treasures of an alive imagination in one day.  I am crazy for that shoe polish box! and the taped papers inside. And the knots, and ...

Great blog Cheryl, and I'm not sure why you're concerned about the photos. They look great. I daresay this makes me think of a Fluxkit, but anything Marie does she makes uniquely her own. I also see this as a real artifact because it is entwined with the Prague Affair - a mix of truth and fiction, as are all things, I suppose.

Cheryl! Someone we both know once said don't knock your head with your shoe. Or something like that, I don't remember exactly :-)) There is nothing you can do if the sunlight is too strong or too faint. A have a few pictures of this and I will post them tomorrow maybe. Don't you worry HS, it's a great blog!

Marie - you add to the narrative here - a telegram, a death, the arrival of the stranger - how wonderful! The winter sun is SO BRIGHT and the winter shade is SO dull making photography difficult for these perfect pieces.    Its a time of complete contrasts, but the days grow brighter. There was no justice done to your triptych :-( - I will take more photos as the sun sets :-) - THANK YOU!!!!

Oh that little box made me sweat! :-)) I really thought I forgot the street name and that it would be forever lost, after being rescued from Czech Republic! And I knew Groot needed it!! :-)))

The roll also contains a piece of an old Czech telegram saying mother died yesterday, be strong, I will arrive tomorrow or Monday :-))

Thank you for blogging, Cheryl! You didn't get anything for such a long time, I'm really happy it is all there now!
