Mail Received - Trash book from Diane Keys

This book came without sender on the envelope. There is some special aura about it. It is - dare I say it - just so trashy, so I was pretty sure it must be from Diane, the queen of Trashpo. Wow, now I own a whole Diane Keys trash poetry anthology!

I have collected a few bits of trash I found for a day or two, but did not find it so interesting. Maybe the streets here in Vienna are just too clean. Maybe I just don't have the trashpo talent. But I love studying Diane's bookie, discovering little messages, pondering about the original authors - quite a few must be kids from the school where Diane always finds most intriguing things. I love the little stamps, tags, stickers and graphics, which are just so American.

Some of my favourite messages are: "There are a lot of myths: facts can help." Diane dispelling myths on the path to enlightenment!
"Ill be ure friend when you stop talking shit. Im Not talking shit. Yes u are ..."
"Visitor, you are our honored guest. We want to meet you."

I would love to pop over and I promise not to talk not too much ... crap as they say in the UK. Thank you very much, sister!

DK sent me a small but very thick mini trashbook when I first joined IUOMA. I loved it so much I took it on vacation.

Thanks for sharing another D-Klassic, xx jones!

Great commentary too. The trashbook concept does seem to originate in the USA consumer-waste society and an attempt by the artists to reclaim and recycle.

It is definitely fascinating to see the found materials that the artists from around the globe are using in their trashbook experiments.

To me it feels like a trucking book, something on the road.  Love the plastic tie and lots more!

You can't go wrong with a trashbook from Diane, The Inventor of the trashbook and inspirer of too many boekies to count. The trashbook is here to stay, and more power to it and to DK. Glad you blogged this, xx, which has led to even more pleasant rumination about trashbooks in my own head--kind of a frequent occurrence, actually.
