What I received from Frieder Speck today can be called bizarre for sure.

It all began with this parcel.(Check out those bar codes, Dean!)

and the flip side:

Good German handiwork...not entirely bullet proof.

The act of unwrapping belongs to mail art too, of course:

There you are, the crux of it, namely the BOX!

Looks trustworthy to me, so let's continue opening it:

Well, well, what's that?

An old tin of good old German hand cleaning paste.

Step back into the times when soap was too expensive for filthy workers' hands.

But does it still contain that stuff? 'Would freak me out!

I remove the cap now:

Oha! Very strange!

What is it? I have to look much closer:

Surely it is a MOUSE TRAP!

But what had been caught?

Looks like a wrapped egg to me...

'Don't dare open the trap out of fear that the THING might break and fall apart.

Will Frieder's note lead my understanding from darkness to light?

It's in German:

The back side of the note looks very nice, too:

I shall translate the text into English:

It says:

"What I really intended sending you I didn't dare do it.

Therefore it's some found objects and a failed try"

(Not at all "failed"!!!)

Danke sehr Frieder...Thank you so muchly Frieder!..signed: Herr Haptic Erni :-)

Frieder, our friend Erni is not at IUOMA for the time being.

He cannot blog the mail art he gets in Hamburg.

He sends me photos and comments and I come and blog here.

Yes, I am in Greece. And yes, Erni has this great mail art mousetrap in Hamburg.

Yes, Svenja, I think Erni could put them together...and I must post a photo or two at the Mice group :-)

Fab it is, Mim...but is there anything inside that paper "egg"?

Only Erni knows

The true story is that I often thought I see an egg in the nest you sent me but only im Vorbeigehen, and if I looked a second time: egg is vanished. So I tried it with a mouse trap cause I wanted to know if my tired eyes are making mistakes. And you see I caught one of these fast jumping eggs. But the Köder is Betriebsgeheimnis. Thank you for the Blog Katharina ( aren´t you in greece? and didn´t I sent this direction north?) jumping Postman?

Or is it just a Riss im Raum Zeit Continuum? You can´t get behind every secret with a mousetrap maybe?

Großartige Kunst, Frieder! And doesn't this fit together with the mice nest you received last year, Erni?
