Dustin said it best "I can't see why anyone should throw anything away!" This is proof of why no one should. This book blew me away. his use of rubberbands, fake haire, nails, pottery bits, book binding, adds a whole new (third)dimension. I feel like he deconstructed an office cubicle after a wild christmas party. The felt just makes me think construction, industrial, institutional. Dustin says he mailed another of these out and I really hope they blog it. thanks Dustin--you were truly dialed in on this one

Ahh Elgin. Please tell me Tinkler was NOT a performance artist. I'd rather he continue in my mind as a Viet Nam hoarder with petrified animals. I love that the neighbors couldn't open their windows. That cat lunging at me made my night.
Great van.That's one proud owner.
OMG Not Hi Ng, never made a connection between your legendary van and Tinkler. Geez, no way. You're impervious to TOXIS, Neoists, the 14 Secret Masters of the World, etc. No. Not even a "person of interest," IMHO.
Tim Leary, there was man! But not a designated driver, no, no way.
There was speculation that the Tinkler van may have in some way ben associated with my van. Other than an unfortunate near death experience involving Dr. Timothy Leary in the late '80s I know of no dead creatures residing in it. Well there was my ex girlfriend, Dead Betty, but she was actually pretty alive.
Oh man. Dead cats in a van. I have definitely seen covert operatives here in Austin. Hmmmm....
The DKULTNY Trashpo Newsletter is doing full coverage of news from Elgin. I'm pretty sure Nadine is on the mailing list. The last issue covered the bodies in the river and the presence of Anti-Orgone.
The dead cat story was eclipsed by the bodies turning up dead in the river. A fisherman 'caught' a dead guy and was quoted saying, "When you catch something like that, it makes you not want to go fishin no more." After the second body washed up, he was quoted as saying that he'd taken up hunting. Nadine, I am really bad at finding the threads but it was all posted in the trashpo group. A guy who lives up the street was found to have 70 plus dead animals, mostly cats but others including possum, in a van parked in his backyard. He was a Vietnam vet and a hoarder. Apparently the stench was so bad that in the summer the nieghbors couldn't ope their windows because of the smell. Yet, no one called the authorities. A city worker is the one who discovered it. His last name is Tinkler. There were rumors he had been approached by a DKult rep in 2008, as a evangelical pamphlet was located among his newspaper hoard. The pamphlet was so old-it was when we still printed everything by hand. Tinkler said he was only preserving the animals and it didn't appear he had killed any of them. The rest just got strange when it was discovered Tinkler was just a frustrated performance artist. this rabbit was part of the 'live' animal show
Lisa Iversen did all the promotional materials for the show
I just love this. All the details. What an addition for the exhibition. 70 dead cats in a van driving around?? With the name 'Tinkler'. Why was I not alerted? DKULT, I'm shocked that I was not informed. These are the things that make my life worth living. In future, please forward these.
Really fantastic Trashbook, Dustin. You now stand in the Great Tradition of Trashbooks produced by some of our best-loved Trashpo All-Stars.
Maybe a little before you joined, DK ran links to the TRUE events of the bizarre Tinkler incident - the guy was driving around Elgin with 70 (?) dead cats in his van not far from the Elgin Mansion. And of course it coincides with the International Trashpo Exhibition. Now how can I NOT develop a Conspiracy Theory from that?
(I think you'll find some excerpts from the Tinkler Diaries in the nest DKULTNY Newsletter.)
Fab Trash Dustin de Wind!
Exceptional!
