Bound by Life then set FREE by Cheryl Penn with Lesley Magwood Fraser

Magic happens...when one takes an art book and sets it free....image of the original "Bound by Life"!

A full envelope arrived yesterday in Greece from South Africa.

Beside some beautiful vispo boekies, there was this delicate art piece!

An info sheet states that these were once pages from an art boekie collaboration

by Cheryl Penn with Lesley Magwood Fraser.

Now it has been deconstructed and set FREE and the pages have taken flight as mail art.

Lucky me!

Soft and gentle strand of threads that come from the center

then flow down and across, leaving trails of mystery.

One recognizes Lesley's captivating drawing, and Cheryl's fine-tuned textures and

secret script..."...and by sackcloth and ashes"?

Details are amazing:  a pin...the markings...threads...

vintage ads , papers wrapped in tissue, pinned...what is the meaning?

Combining and overlapping, a poetic symphony...

This is a treasure...a real beauty to be "read" and reread many times,

in the (finally arrived) sunshine of the front room...Spring can't be far away :-)

Many thanks CP...and LMF! xxx

Setting pages "free"!

Thank you, Thom, I always have difficulty using words to describe this beautiful art.

Cheryl has a treasure house of artistic boekies, and at first it seems shocking that she would literally

"tear-them-apart". However, once she said how it "sets them free",let's them fly!

I see all these pages flying around the world, happy and bringing such joy to us! YAY!

Special thanks to Cheryl,

for allowing me to see, feel, smell, hear...(well, "taste" if i lick the threads????)

her beautiful art. xxx
