30o+ is not a "heat wave" in Greece :-)

The highest temperature ever recorded on the European continent

 is 48 degrees Celsius (118.40 degrees Fahrenheit) in 1977 in Athens.

Last summer, 2021:

August, 2021 in Greece, 42-44+oC and wildfires in Athens and Evia.

 

"Italy even recorded a provisional heat record for the whole of Europe, 

hitting 48.8 degrees Celsius (119.8 degrees Fahrenheit) in Sicily: 11 August 2021."

but it was a "provisional" recording and not official?
