So, my laptop is dead! This laptop contained photos of collages, photos of Mail Art, my poems, my books, everything else.

Three weeks before the final breakdown, this thing was under repair, and I paid the equivalent of $ 174 for repairs. It was all useless. I'll buy new equipment after the epidemic ends. I hope that an experienced master will be able to transfer files from the old hardware to the new laptop!

Hi Martha.
Thank you, I have retained in my memory all the words you said, and I hope to implement these recommendations in 2021. Let the communication on the Internet be fruitful and only fruitful!

I remembered how it is done. You need to get a box called here a caddy which has the proper connections so the HD can be plugged to another computer and so transfer everything. First you need to take out the HD and measure it to get the right sized box, then it is easy to house the HD in its new box. All depends on you being able to buy the caddy on line and obviously also a new computer/laptop.
The main thing is that you have not lost your work!
What is your particular branch of science? Sorry, I am so curious...

Yes even I can transfer from one HD to another. I would look up how to do it in the web if I were you. There are many nice experts who would help. I once reformat a HD, a fact I do not waste any opportinity to boast about!

Ilya, do not give up. If the hard disk is fine you have not lost anything. It is possible to take it out and use it as an external hard disk attached to another computer.

Of course, nothing prevents me from making my collages, I just loosened my connections with the Internet a little. It's good that I managed to finish a scientific article before the accident and send it to the journal on Slavic studies! Let's hope for the best.

Hi Carien ! Hi Jennifer !
Thanks for a feedback. In my opinion, the masters can extract files even from an injured hard drive, but my hard drive is fine, the laptop just died. I just need to be patient, now an epidemic is raging in Moscow and I don't want to go to the store, to the workshop...

Of course, I made backups on external usb, but this was less Mail Art. I have saved many text files, alas, this is only part of the archive. In the future, it will be necessary to regularly copy EVERYTHING to external usb!

That is terrible, Ilya. Fingers crossed for a recovered harddisk (most of the time it will be possible).
