Why I am involved in Mail-Art:: I am an interdisciplinary installation and performance artist and an art educator. Originally from the US, but working in Montreal, Quebec Canada. When I attending art school in the mid 1990s I had a curatorial internship at The Walker Art Center. My job was to select mail art pieces from the permanent collection to include into a small window gallery within the larger FLUXUS exhibit taking place in the main gallery at that time. I was already closely associated to the underground punk scene, so I was experiencing mail-art through a different lens. Learning about mail-art through this interdisciplinary approach left a big impression on me. Thirty years later I am still fascinated by the mail-art movement, and teach lessons and workshops to high school and college aged students introducing them to using mail as an artistic medium.
