Bought a Remington Quiet-Riter Eleven circa 1960s with a ribbon in it. This photo shows the ribbon as it functioned when I got the type writer and after re-inking. First half (lighter black) lines are typed once on the ribbon, except the 7th line which is typed twice to darken the ink. The bottom half of the page was typed after re-inking the ribbon. Although the re-inked ribbon worked, I still chose to buy a new ribbon after re-inking. The new ribbon creates a consistent dark black letter with little effort (less pounding on the keys) as compared to the re-inked ribbon.
