Mail Art, Before After Samantha Danis Price

my entry for my 1st mail art exhibit...
"In order to depict the Before/After theme, I’ve used the image of a venus fly trap to illustrate how it relates to my life before & after this illness struck me. The flies, before they get trapped by the plant, represent me before getting sick, flying freely wherever my wings would take me. The after is what happens once the fly lands on the leaf only to become immobilized & trapped, just what this illness has done to me. I chose the Frida Kahlo stamps because she was also trapped in a disabled body, making art from her bed."
