Is it difficult? No, but you have to be very patient (which I am not) and very careful and accurate in what you do (which I am not). If you make a mistake you are stuck with it, and can't paint over it, stick something else on top of it, or do anything like that. What is fascinating about the technique is that the way I am doing it -- without a proper press -- every print is different in colour and texture, because the paint gets applied to the paper in different ways. I'm still trying to find out what are the best types of paper to use.

There's an easier way to do this sort of thing, and that's to get an ordinary pencil rubber (a hard one is better)p and a sharp knife or cutter and carve into the knife to make a pattern which you then print from an ink pad or after applying (prfereably acrylic) paint. This is the rubber stamp technique that Ruud and many others use (and I believe that there's a Rubber Stamp Group somewhere in IUOMA).
