Yes, that's it: limiting yourself can actually work in your favor. It goes against the grain to believe that without proving it to yourself (at least it does for me, a cluttery person who can't stop picking up stuff and then trying to use perhaps too much of it at times). I can see how these difficulties would be true of writing too, Theresa. Part of my job as a freelance book editor was, of course, sometimes to pare down dense writing. It came naturally, as an editor, but my own writing -- even on things such as my website -- takes forever to pare down. It is really laughable, the number of times I've gone in to delete one word. Then another, then another ... it seems to be endless. It sounds like you feel you've learned by now to be content with a day's writing, which must be a relief to you.
It's a bit funny for me to be saying this stuff today, as I work at my very first piece of (conscious) asemic-writing art and it is wholly without the simplicity of the 3-scrappers! But I'm glad you brought it up, and hope it will influence my next piece -- or at least make me *decide* whether to spring my crowded brain or my simple brain that day.
