Why I am involved in Mail-Art:

Because I love being creative with paper, love to send "real" mail (also to receive mail in my mailbox). It's great to exchange Mail Art, to honour the artwork received and to see that what I send out sometimes makes the recipient smile.
Still I'm a beginner at Mail Art (though what I've always been doing with my mail even before having heard about Mail Art could be called just that) and am not sure that what I send is "the right" thing to do. I'm active at Postcrossing and love to exchange Mail Art there - but now I feel sufficiently courageous and try to connect with the Mail Artists here.

And I will try to find my way around here... Not that easy, I guess...
How to get started? Just send out some Mail Art to random persons who share their addresses in public?
Is it expected to show what you receive or to give some kind of confirmation of receiving someones Mail Art?
How does the "friends" option work: Am I expected to send Mail Art to someone who sends me a friend request? SO many questions...

What I do within my Mail Art:
- whatever comes into my mind ;)
- carve my own rubber stamps (and use a huge variety of bought ones)
- make artistamps using my vintage "Kroll" perforating machine
- print my own postcards, letterpress technique - possible because I volunteer at a printing museum: https://www.museumsdruckerei-hoya.de
- make ATC, trying to start making zines, always interested in trying out something new
- most important: connect to others by sending mail art - learning new things and loving to be inspired by a community.
