Woowwwww, David! Wow, - that blue side of your letter with the photos included is one of the most best beautifulst weirdest mail art I ever got! I LOVE it. Got it yesterday when I returned from a journey through Alaska, and couldn't really believe that this is for me!! But Bullingtons???? But somehow now Santa Fe now sounds familiar - so it had so be you again! Thanks a lot David, really, it's wonderful.
David--your artisanal (this word just looks really wrong) bookmark arrived and I find it very inspirational. Not only is your drawing excellent, but I noticed it serves a dual purpose. When I turn it just the right way, the sun glints off of it, revealing a watermark embedded in the watercolor paper. Such an amazing idea you had to include the entire history of the exact tree the paper was made from. This particular one, it says, was cut down by loggers in Vancouver BC. I can't read the rest as the sun went down. But really--you have outdone yourself with this new product line. DaveCo is the only way to Go
Picture bookmarks for picture book readers--brilliant. Just beware of all the knock offs that will try to profit off your idea. I believe I saw one in Walmart the other day that looked suspiciously like your prototype. I think you have a mole around you. There's a leak somewhere in there. I will try to obtain one of these faux DaveCo pieces for your closer inspection. Patent Attorneys might be neccesary here.
David--first off---WOW!!thank you for the get well Mail Art! Second off--Hugo and Debra sound like super hip people--being gluten free vegans and all. I think this would be a great brand for DaveCo to acquire. I've always dreamed of having a soap that I could eat. It would make mornings so much faster if I could eat and shower at the same time. Pure genius--as are you and your mail art enchantments. third off--wow again, but I'll pass on the brown cow as I am a vegetarian (but not vegan but don't tell H and D)
My first thought was Wow THat's a big card! and then WOW he really DId send me a get well package, unlike the goat and large crate that Alicia Starr promised me
Hello. If you happen to be interested, I have been putting together an exhibition at the Franklin Arts Center Resident Artists Gallery, here in Brainerd, MN, to showcase Mail Art from all around the world. The exhibition is titled, 'POSTAL', and there is still a couple more weeks to send your Mail Art to us, to be included in the show. Check out the link below for more information. - Thanks, Martin.
Spurt Jerkins- what a guy!! I'm in love! He wrestles squids and wears his Speedos despite being the Jantzen model!!! Thanks, David, for a fabulous posting!!! Love it!
By the way, did you ever get my little 'Marooned' boekie/card featuring Annette F crushed by her fellow Mouseketeers under a wheelbarrow of veggies? I sent 2 works in succession, but maybe you only got the one?
I made the Annette bit hidden away under a page in case it was too graphic and caused you too much grief. Maybe you saw it and your brain automatically erased it from your memory. Sorry if that is so, I won't mention it again.
But. if you do need to work through it, the photos are in ..my photos.
Took the fluxbux to the store and they said I needed to go to the currency exchange. the currency exchange told me it was worth the paper it was printed on and nothing more. I was given 44 cents--just enough to buy a stamp. so thank you for the advance. Rock self esteem has definately been on the decline since the pet rock craze faded out. I'm glad snakes aren't just for enchanting anymore
Thank you thank you thank you for the watercolor postcard, the Zappa/Ruud bucks and the bookmark! You spoil me so. Moving again this time to the Treme, I think, so once dust settles again, I'll get back to making good stuff. Promise.
Not to worry about the dough... got that covered... have you noticed that they dropped the dough from doughnuts... why would you want a 'do' nuts... and is there then a 'dont' nuts ... very confusing all of this dropping letters willy nilly... what if you just dropped everything but the 'DT's'... now that would be confusing when ordering a coffee and a dozen cream filled DT's...
Guess what, David, we crossed mail arts! Based on the several laughs you brought me, I got the better end of the deal. Thanks my friend and this will be blogged, as will 3 storycards from you still waiting for the treatment . . .
Thanks David for your card and this shared memory in the flying eye ... I already know that for me also the moments in BS will remain a "Big Surreality" ;-)
David-your parents are a beautiful reminder that opposites attract. I hate to say it though, but your Dad looks better in a dress. I believe you got your fashion sense from him
David, you MUST have been reading my diary (left open for just these occasions) because you gave me EXACTLY what I wanted from the catalogue. Thank you so much for your hilarious card. very thoughtful of you. as a matter of fact I am having a bit of acid fluxus these days--must be a sign of getting older
I got squid jerky, new shoe soles, do-it-yourself taxidermy kit, fresh cut grass scented hand towels, and ten lucky rabbit's feet. I thought you should know they charged me shipping. They said the gift card did not cover it. Everything was made in China and tested positive for lead, but I love it all anyway!!!
David--Thank you for your comments about my postcards. It was an enjoyable challenge to create them. From your IUOMA page it is evident that you have a wild sense of humor. Keep smiling!
David, I just viewed Rudd's video of your FLUXUS Wallet sent to him last year. Wonderful!
FYI: If you haven't been back to Los Altos the 'tracks' and the cities have changed much during the 30 years that I have lived here. I'm just across the 85 highway off Fremont Ave. It's exciting to live in the midst of technological explosion--even if I am more lo-tech than most around me...
Hey, I got my gift! And lo and behold, I don't hate you!!! I laughed and laughed quite hysterically, much like a Jolly Girl!! pfff, too funny, thanks for choosing me for this, please send me the whole collection of Healthway pamphlets!!! :-P
Thanks for the Jolly Girl pamphlet!! I see Viz got one too and I thank you for being concerned for our naughty parts. This is very empowering as I get older and looking for a good workout routine--the straps might seem ominous but I will keep my eye on the prize!! p.s. even after I opened this I was convinced it came from Nadine as it was so wonderfully irreverent!
Happy Days David! Have a mighty prosperous year ahead! I must go to bed now as I am responsible for the family Xmas dinner. Now where did I put the whiskey?
Gee it was great to hear from you and Mildred + Ned, Dave. Wonderful OOB thing you did with your magic graphics ability. Mildred is right about the random demon attacks, of course. If only they weren't random, people could prepare. But we do the best we can. We and the ID.
Sorry I couldn't afford the non-discounted candies. I thought all the little 'thingies' I put inside would be better for your teeth and blood sugar. I must tell you that my daughter offered to support this mail art by taking bites out of all of them. She hates dark chocolate, so it was quite a sacrifice on some of them. Two people have defriended me this week? What on earth is going on? I will have to lure you back somehow. Don't give up on me just yet. The kids in your head will be fine. Just park them in front of the t.v. like our parents did and when they grow up they will be able to sing all the commercial jingles. I realized that most of what I send could be considered Barfa--it's a year round thing for me.
Have you considered virtual gastric bypass? I prayed for you all morning, I hope it worked. I said "Supreme Being, Creator of all things-please send David Stafford enormous amounts of work." I was going to say more, but you said to keep it short. I then lit a candle for you. After this candle burns for ten consecutive days I believe the prayer will be answered. This process can not be rushed so just be patient and eat your chocolate in the meantime. Remember not to push the river.
love the blues name. I actually love the blues more than any other kind of music and it's not just because I'm from Chicago or spent a huge chunk of my life depressed. oh wait, that was my inner child who was morbidly depressed.
I need you to create the graphics for the deck though--fun, inspirational, whimsical, heartfelt, deep, thought provoking, sad, happy--covering the gamut of emotions an inner child might go through in a given day
Are you the girl with the pearl, no sorry, I mean the astronaut with pear? If so, waou, what an amazing card concocted here... thanks for it, I enjoy and still laugh. If this is not you, oops!
Could you tell me before I publish it on the site ?
