1952 (when I sent a "Thankyou for my Birthday Present' to my Grandma, and illustrated it with a little drawing). Since then my Mail Art history has been, well, interesting
Yes... I am leaning toward a new purchase. But the new purchase will cost a whole lot more than the Walkman. The current machine is only worth 1100 USD if it was running. It cost 4X that much but it's 8 years old. I don't want to think what it will cost to replace.....
On Polinators group, may I post this part of your message as "received from Val?"
Pollinators! Bonjour!
...in pots on my terrace are lots of lavender plants, flowers, herbs and a honeysuckle tree or two. In previous years, they have been visited by lots of bees, butterflies and ladybirds.
Almost none of these have been seen this year -- and I haven't seen a bee on the lavender for a couple of weeks now.
I read that the European bee population has been struck by a virus and is in danger. If what is happening, or rather not happening on my terrace is typical, then this is very true.
On my daily walks in the countryside with my friend's dog, there's hardly a butterfly around -- all the exotic, colourful and splendid ones have gone.
I received the monsters. thank you . i thought of them while i was at the beach with my family ,i saw a sea branch that looked like a reaching arm. next time ill take a picture for you.
maybe that'll explain it. I don't know anything about it - just heard it mentioned and I remembered ? that you have an interest in cassettes, old cameras etc?
I received your art about a week ago. What a delight and surprise.Love the images, especially both sets of the Beatles paintings! Will post it soon. Working on a show in China and a couple national shows in California and Chicago with deadlines coming in next 3 weeks..
Many many thanks for the football ticket, Ill try to change it for a ticket to the world cup finals between England -Sweden next year. The other stuff is great too, the signed photo of the sea monster!!!
I received one of your funky pieces featuring The Beatles today. It's foggy and rainy here (very dreary) and receiving something so bright through the letterbox has improved my mood immensely. The carrot on the IV beta carotene is fab!
My name is a nickname. My family calls me 'petal' - but I don't feel like a part of a fragile flower! So I added the 'petrol' to signify that I can get down and dirty with the best of them!
Many thanks for your comments! In fact I didn't know how to say "pochette surprise pour un écureuil" in English. It's like a "box full of surprises for a squirell".
I hope Alfonso will receive it because French Post let me know that mail art are some times lost....
I will send you a mail art before I leave France to return in Africa, where I live now and where the Post lost all mails...
Oscar say hi. He is a Syrian hamster the last two were Roborovskis and they are incredibly fast. Their names are Roger and Rafa after two great tennis players.
My hamster was Chinese Dwarf called Cherry she died within 5 days the next lot were two Robrovski. Boy were they fast. I never knew dwarf hamsters existed until I saw them in the pet's shop, the biggies Syrian or Golden I knew already. Hamtaro. They were meant to be for someone else always me who ends looking them. Oscar is like my baby I did tame him since he was 3 weeks old. I have heard of these stories of owners keeping cat and hamster together. They get upset when cat eats the hamster.
I actually want a rat because they are cute, a work colleague kept rats he had 7 of them. One will do fine. Please don't eat Oscar because he is also my muse.
It is great to name pets after cool people. Hamster's name tend to begin with 'H' or have 'HAM' I knew one called Hamish. Come on be original. Besides Oscar is top 5 of popular pets' name. Thanks to hamsters I can't stop them from invading my mailart.
Back in June, you sent me a welcome email to the group. I have rented my PO Box and will get an item in the mail. I got a good number, it totals to 13 and that reduces to 4 and there are two fours in the number.
The display for mail art for the Celebrate IUOMA 25 Call for Entries was a success. Your mail art contributed to his popularity with visitors. Thank you again for participating. Read my report about the event on my IUOMA Blog or in entry #42 at http://decordisart.blogspot.com/
Thank you Val! I trust your convalescence after the foot op. is going well though from your new profile pic. I am a little worried... actually looks as if someone might have just stamped on your foot... : > )
To answer your question about my numbering system....I started MailArt365 on Dec 1, 2010, but was determined to not stress about the daily thing. It actually took me 20 months to complete the first 365...and then I just kept numbering. Now I'm well into my second 365. It may be weird, but it works for me! :P
