Well, there was I opening that HM Liz 11 would give me a New Year Honour (I was hoping for a Dukedom at the very least), but you beat her to it and very kindly awarded me the title of 'Mail Artrist of the Year of the Earthworm'.
I am deeply honoured.
I am preparing my speech.
When do I have to deliver it? And where? And will there be dis-simultaneous translation for the Earthworms,
May you all in Retailia have a blissful shopping spree in the next few weeks.
Sorry to hear about your leg, and hope that you will be OK for the next Olympics. (I have just spent 5 days in hospital having two operations on my foot).
You should have got Vizma's photo by now. I couldn't put one of mine in because I was in the horsepickle.
How is your foot? My own Dear Foot was rearranged on 3 Dec then the pain pills made me more ill than the main pain which passed by about the 5th day. A little titanium plate now anchors my Great toe and the long pin through my littlest piggy will come out 9 January.
Do you also find that the hobbling around gets tiresome?
this makes quite a group with you, Val, Nancy Bell Scott and me, all in December.cheers, hope you're hopping hastily,ElizabethHere's the Pota-Toe:
Bonjour! Glad to hear that your paw is getting better. Mine is healing slowly. It will probably be more or less OK on the 3rd February, just in time for the operation on the other one on the 4th of February: what great timing! And I will have to change my stair hobbling technique. Looking forward to getting some Mail Art from you and hope that your Tate trip goes well -- photos are expected, of course.
Hurray for your hopping to the Tate gathering! I'm so pleased for you that you get to be there.
About he squirrel darlings, first an ailing one showed up on my 2nd floor windowsill desperately eating the birdseed. (european-wise, the 1st floor, we live on the american 2nd and 3rd floors). That was Miss Wisp. She got well and lived about 3 more years while others learned to come over and I learned squirrelly things. I photograph them for about 6 years now and my spousie does also.
Martha! Of course you can keep her/me! (although Kat made it, but I'm sure she'd rather we stick together!!) I'd be honoured to be a Cardboard Head in Residence at your place! In your studio, I hope? As long as there's a photo to come at Artspace !!! ;-))
Valentine Titchmarch writes: Cardboard Vizma cut outs need liquid at frequent intervals, ideally every 2 hours. The liquid should be at least 12° alcohol, and preferably bubbly.
Thankyou, Dear Martha, for 'clouding' me. Glad to hear that your foot is OK. Mine is, slowly recovering, and I am getting ready for my 'Nelson Moment'...one eye, one foot, and one (well, ask John). Looking forward to receiving your exhibition card. Regards, Val
Hi, martha, i do not get the mailart you sent to the newspaper project, but i want to say thank you first cuz you are so kind and full of inspiration with mailart.
Subject: Jail Deadline: 1st June 2013 No measurement limits Free technique The works will not be returned and will become part of the archives of Proxecto Cárcere.
Ah I haven't been to Bracknell particularly often - only moved to the area about 6 months ago. Strangely enough I used to live fairly close to you - my parents are from Bexley and as a cricketer I have spent a fair amount of time in Beckenham! I haven't left any trees there though... maybe I should get working on that!
The first graders had a blast with your envelope this morning! They were super intregued by the money. Also the stamps. And they all want the Shopping Trolly Gallery paper sculpture-may I copy and distribute? Wish you could be here, too! The kids are super jazzed and curious about the people sending these pieces-I knew it would go over well with them, but had no idea how much. Thank you!!!
Oh, sorry, I think it wanted to be where it travelled, so we should respect the ways of art I think. I have to find some art that wants to go to Mailarta Thanks for blogging this idiosyncratic letter!
Hi Martha - how's things? Thank you for the link to your bookplates and 25 years of iuoma label. All terrific of course - what a great idea and generous too. Hope to see you soon. Have a lovely week end.
Thank you MAMartha. Your card is lovely. I like the T-shirt saying about being out in the wind by the seaside. Yes, to that one! We had sun today after much rain. My garden looks wonderful! Hope it's sunny there tomorrow.
Your fabulous and delicious trashpo arrived. One of my daughter's friends was over and saw it and said "What's that?" I said==see all the candy wrappers and things--it's garbage from the UK. He said "'That's weird ". and walked away.. I guess us trashpoets are destined to not be understood----thanks for the great and inspired piece!
I thought it was cute too. He's 9. He probably wondered how someone could send someone candy wrappers with no candy, not realizing the trash is the candy to me:)
Hi Mail Art Martha!--so good to hear from you and thanks for being a friend. Of course I remember you and your projects. I've been to your original blog and have seen the e-books. Found my mail art in them, so thank you for including my postcards. FYI: I know Patti Bristow-- we are in a book arts group together. The group organizes the Book Arts Jam at which I'm displaying mail art received this year (including yours). I've posted the announcement postcard.
I'm delighted that you have sent something for my Call. Thank you and I'll see you in the mail.

Choose one, Dear Martha:
i) Let's hop together into 2013
ii) We could do a Two-Legged Race
iii) Or we could train for the Triple Jump in the next Olympics
iv) Or we could exchange some more Mail Art next year.
Best wishes to you and him too, Val

Very impressive, Martha! Apparently there is a London College of Pataphysics.
http://www.atlaspress.co.uk/theLIP/
Pataphysics is likely an influence on other somewhat imaginary entities such as RJ's Correspondance School & Buddha University.
