i read the Griffin and Sabine books written by Nick Bantock, and was completely spellbound by the artistry one could employ in their letter writing. i am endlessly entertained and excited by the idea of reappropriation of utilitarian stamps and ephemera and love the challenge of making something beautiful that will endure the hardships of travel.
Good morning, Jackie, Welcome to the Union. It's a great place to learn about mail art, send and receive mail art, all good. If I can answer any questions, I've got 2 more days as the August mentor, then Carla Cryptic takes over. She's located in Oakland!! There are 2 groups for newbies, check them out via the group link above. See you in the mail.
"...something beautiful that will endure the hardships of travel" What about a very first test on a transamericas long journey. If you feel that test time has arrived, then I would like to be the other end on your test. If that´s the case, your envelope should read as follows:
The Celestial Scribe
Av. Paraná, 1489 apto. 1004
Curitiba-PR

Brazil
I look forward to see your piece on my mailbox. Yes!, I will do my homework after receiving yours. That’s a celestial promise. I´m Patricio, The Celestial Scribe.
LOL Jackie - I sent you two different cards by accident - well, I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing but I feel silly when I make that kind of mistake! I send out so much mail every week that I sometimes get mixed up who I'm sending things to! Hope you like them. ;)
I must tell you I just think your work is wonderful. I'm also encouragd to know there is yet one more 'strange' person out there. I'll be sending you something from down south of you.
That profile pic is brilliant! Thanks for letting me know my letter was able to poke a bad day back even a bit. I've been having them too down here in North Hollywood.
So glad to hear that my mail has knocked you back into wanting to make an art mess in your room! While you've been hibernating I started a group called Show us your Artspace, so please take a photo and post it there, before you clean up!!
LOVE your new profile pic Jackie!! You were previously on a dinosaur, yes? That was great too!!
