Bonjour Mim! Nice to hear from you again, and thanks for the Elephant & Castle card, slide and all the postage stamps -- a very nice lil package to receive indeed.
Summer is a comin', and so, alas are the tourists. For two months, alas again. And then they will go: hooray!
I gotta give them some credit - they have realised that my plot is somewhat different and have risen to the challenge set for them. We've raised the bar!
Fear not about the piece being upside down Mim, I'm popping in tonight and will set things right
MIM! Thanks for the wonderful Postcard:"color study #17" And, yes i do believe we can heal the world, one piece of mail art at time! I wonder what postal workers around the world feel when they deliver it?????
Hi Mim, here is a link to a few photos of the Cranberry Island Mailart exhibition! Thanks for your mailart. I will beputting together the catalog soon. (I am just finishing off something for Cheryl's Zine first).
Thanks Mim for the welcome. Great card... I will be reading the new members nfo shortly. I am a curator/director for a University in Massachusetts and wish to make an open call. Cards will be scanned, put on the gallery site, and a physical show in 2014 if there is interest. Best J
Oh yes! And, in the meantime spousie and I may go again to VA and you may come to NY way up just past Albany (to Troy). In June we drove through the forest top, Skyline drive on aroundwestish then east to the bottom of your state to Bracey.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I am very excited to be here and have some great ideas for future projects.... just need to learn how to meander around here and all will be well!
Thanks a lot! Received your postcard today, mine will be on the way to you soon! (:
It was very special to me to know that your grandparents lived near Riga,... that's so good that they get to USA and lived there happily, because many people couldn't get anywhere.
I am sorry! I totally dropped the ball. We moved in the middle of this project and I am still recovering! I did receive a lot of works from that project. I did design my pages but have still not had time to print out, draw on and ship out. But I think once I don't feel in a state of panic, I will sit down and focus.
Attali was sacked from World bank directory , as governement advisor he made 317 proposals for economic growth ( that's a magic number from Klebnikov ) & same time cultural minister spend lot for reparing the controversial Colonnes when they could be used as dogs toilets in other smaller cities !
Glad you like the work. The card comes from layered drawings. I use source materials from anything that catches my eye. This in part came from an old phrenology chart and various handstamps. I draw/rub the image onto a base sheet, then overlay many layers of onionskin paper. Each layer additional drawing to highlight and edit. When finished the drawing is scanned and then printed onto various mailing labels which I wrap around old gallery invitation cards. Pretty much it.
Bonjour Mim! THANK YOU for your WELLCOME! This is really a coincidence -or isn't it? Yesterday, before reading about being accepted in/to/at the IUOMA, I decided to send a mail-artcard to you. Indeed, I "discovered" you(r blog) some days ago and I LIKED it VERY MUCH. This idea -AND REALISATION- of "minimal" mail-art has pleased me VERY MUCH. Naively, I tried to make a "minimal" mail-art envelope and discovered that it was not so easy! So, what you are going to receive is not esp. "minimal", but it is neither so "full-of-things" as I often finish doing! I rather are HAPPY with the one I send you.
I accepted before I could read everything and there "it" went away and I didn't manage to find back you invitation to be a friend... But from what I remember:
- my address is
15 rue Vergniaud
75013 Paris (France)
- and my age is 63 (nou ja, bijna!)
(I remember that your greeting was in German, but I don't remember which one it was exactly),
Thank you for your welcome! I guess i mean underground in the old school sense of the word... It is exciting for me to try something like this, I have always been more of a snail mail kind of mail artist, so this a new approach for me. At some point I shall put some of my images on the site. It really is a great site think I. Best wishes A
Mim, that strange critter that was found dead might be a "locust borer" with its wings expanded? do you have any locust trees in the area? It may have been feasting on the tree...or died of old age?
Good Morning Mim (well, it's morning here!) Trish is having an exhibition of her year's work in November - the A-I-R Mail envelopes are going to be put into a book somehow & each envelope will be a seperate page. Trish does some lovely books - calligraphy is her speciality.

Это Реми Пенард, Очень хороший художник, у него всегда такие открытки, но когда я их получаю необыкновенно тепло становится. Ему уже наверное 70 лет.
This is Remy Penard from Limoges, a very good artist, he's always such cards, but when I get them to become unusually warm. He is probably 70 years.
