    Hi and good Mail Art.
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    Hello Elizabeth,
some art postcards with phobias are on their way to you
    from Greece :-)
Today is one of those days for a phobia:
    Friday the 13th...
"Henry Ford would have hated 2009, and not just because it's been a tough year to sell cars.
Ford, as the story goes, refused to do business on Friday the 13th, and this week marks the third time this year that the 13th will fall on a Friday — the most times it can happen in one year.
It's a day when people rearrange travel plans, delay surgery or just pull up the covers and stay in bed until Friday the 13th turns into Saturday the 14th, convinced that even stepping out of the house would cause bad luck to find them…
"They're afraid something tragic or ominous would happen," said Donald Dossey, a North Carolina behavioral scientist and author who said he named the fear — paraskavedekatriaphobia — proof that he does not suffer from hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, the fear of long words.
    "paraskavedekatriaphobia"
    "hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia"
two of the phobias I'm sending you...it's Greek to me!
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    We ARE having a party...
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

Well, Elizabeth, I first saw your comment on my page now. I have trouble getting on-line at my page...I have to do around-about ways to get there. Waiting for ning to fix it, I hope!

Anyway, I do not have any personal mail art calls.
I am on a committee for the SKETBE Mail Art 2009 Greece exhibit, which will open at Aristotle University here in Thessaloniki on December 1,2009. Unfortunately, the deadline is over. However, you are always welcome to send mail art to me...I have started a little collection at my studio.Just nice personal exchange, tis fun!

All the wishes of the season to you too EMD. I think this corner of British Columbia is the only part of Canada without snow at the moment but I just had a visit out east and had my fill of white stuff for the year. Really love Santa - except for the X-Ray vision, of course.
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    Hello elizabeth,
No, I have no mail art project now. I did help with the big Mail Art 2009 Greece call and SKETBE exhibit, and that was an amzing experience. Art from around the world!
You don't need a mail art call to send an art postcard or two...I'll be waiting to see you in the mail, any theme, any time!
    All the best, Katerina
  • Jennifer Kosharek

how is your website facebook? I'll look you up there...
And glad you liked my postcard! Do you have a blog where you post all the work? People will send you more stuff if you post on a blog that the whole world can see! Phobia--a great concept. Yes, would be glad if you send something to UR TOYSTORY... showing at a gallery Sept. 11, 2010 and on the blog. Happy mail art!
  • Medwolf

Thank you my friend I will watching my mail box
  • karen c

Chicken pox? Oh no! Do take care of yourself. Love the phobia project - the responses are terrific. Hope to see you out in the mail!
  • Rachel Freeman

I love rabbits...but I like all mail art!
  • Naomi Healing

I must confess, those are two different rubber stamps from INVOKE ARTS - one of the reasons I enjoy using rubber stamps for collage and mail art is that I don't draw very well. I will credit myself with having the good taste to like them and use them. Peacock Party - Do you mean the illustration work of Alan Aldridge (man with kaleidoscope eyes)? I also have a coffee table book of weird, funny photographs of parrots wearing different outfits somewhere around here. tmi?
  • Rachel Freeman

I see you have some mail art calls..I will work on something more specific!
  • Michael Leigh

Glad the postcard arrived Elizabeth. Just watching a very depressing edition of the Culture Show about all the things I hate - pretentious idiots waffling on about the internet - terrible architecture- shoenburg? - the barbican - rotten films about Capitalism. Groan! It used to be quite a light frothy fun programme but seems to be under new management!
  • Naomi Healing

I just finished making a postcard for your phobia project - it will be on its way to you in a few hours. Enjoy the day!
  • Katerina Nikoltsou (MomKat)

    Thank you, Elizabeth,
I am afraid of snakes, too!
Your art postcard came in today's mail...
the postman handed it to me and pointed out
that you used an image of "Medusa"!
"Very Greek", he said. And he noticed the Greek
    word "erpo", too!
I am impressed, also, by the old stamps.
    Thank you so much,
    Katerina

  • Rachel Freeman
